HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL PHP PROGRAMS/WEBSITES

Introduction

This tutorial teaches how to install Php program downloaded from our websites projectgist.com.ng and cfaprojects.blogspot.com.

Note: the actual file name that will be sent to you will be different from what was used here. For example, when installing the database we used filename but the file sent to you will be different.

This tutorial will be divided into two parts of two sections each. Part one will have two sections. Part two will treat the remaining two sections.

Part 1

  1. Downloading the program.
  2. Installing the program.

Part 2

  1. Running the program/website subsequently.
  2. Burning the program to a CD.

Section 1: Downloading the program

Step 1: In your email, you will find three links. Click the first link, you will be directed to a web page. When the page finishes loading, at the top, you will see an arrow pointing downwards, click on it to begin the download. Check the progress of the download by pressing CTRL + J on your keyboard.

When the download finishes, copy the downloaded file (Your name package) to your documents folder.

Step 2: If you don’t have winrar software installed. Go back to your email, click on the second link, you will be directed to a web page. When the page loads finish, at the top, you will see an arrow pointing downwards, click on it to download. Check the progress of your download by pressing CTRL + J on your keyboard.

When the download finishes, copy the downloaded file (wrar393) to your documents folder.

Step 3: Go back to your email, click on the third link, you will be directed to a web page. When the page loads finish, at the top, you will see an arrow pointing downwards, click on it to download. Check the progress of your download by pressing CTRL + J on your keyboard.

When the download finishes, copy the downloaded file (WampServer2.1e-x32) to your documents folder

 

Section 2: Installing the program

Step 1: Go to your documents folder where you just copied the three downloaded files, you will see the wrar393 file, double click on the file to install it.

Click the Install button

Click the Ok button

On the next screen, click done. If it pops a message saying you installed a 32bit winrar version on 64 bit. Just click the ok button.

Step 2: Go to your documents folder where you just copied the three downloaded files, you will see the WampServer2.1e-x32, double click on the file to install it.

Click next

Select “I accept agreement”, click Next

Click Next

Check “Create a Desktop icon”. Click Next

Click Install. It performs installation.

If it pops up this screen, select yes.

Click Next. If it pops a screen asking you to allow access to network, click Yes.

Click Finish

Step 3: Go back to your documents folder, you will see the other file you downloaded named “Your name package”, right click on Your name package, from the popped up option, select Extract Here.

A window will pop up showing the extraction progress. When it finishes the extraction, the popped up window disappears. The result of this extraction is a folder named “Your name package”.

Step 3: Still on the documents folder, open the newly extracted folder named “Your name package”, you will see a folder named “Your topic name”, filename (yours will be different) and appendix/source code files.

Step 4: Copy “Your topic name” folder, open WINDOWS C drive (Local Disk), you will see a folder named wamp, open it you will see www folder, Open d www folder and paste “Your topic name” folder.

Step 5: Start the wamp server. Just like any program you can either use one of the icons you created during the installation process or look under Start-All Programs-WampServer folder and click on “start WampServer”.

After starting the WAMP server a red W icon will appear in your task bar. As the server starts up the W icon will go from red to orange to green, it shouldn’t take more than a minute. If it seems stuck on either red or orange you may need to reboot the server, or click on the W icon and select “Restart all Services”. If it turns to green, this indicates that the server is running.

Step 6: Open a web browser, Type http://localhost/phpmyadmin then hit enter, In the middle of the page that displays, you will see a text box, type “filename” (remember that what you will type will be different) and click the button named create      that is by the right.

Step 7: After clicking on the button name Create, You will be directed to a page where you will see the success message “Database filename has been created”. At the top you will see a link named import click on it.

Clicking on the import link directs you to a page. In the middle of the page you will see a button named browse, click on the button, a window pops up, navigate to your documents folder, Open “Your name package”, select filename (yours will be different), click open at the bottom of the popped up window. At the bottom of the page you will see a button named go, click on it. This displays a success message “Import has been successfully finished, queries executed”.
