CORONAVIRUS CONTACT TRACKING INFORMATION SYSTEM
Price: 2000 Naira (BSC, MSC)
1.1 Background to the Study
In public health, contact tracing is the process of identification of persons who may have come into contact with an infected person (“contacts”) and subsequent collection of further information about these contacts. By tracing the contacts of infected individuals, testing them for infection, isolating or treating the infected and tracing their contacts in turn, public health aims to reduce infections in the population. Diseases for which contact tracing is commonly performed include tuberculosis, vaccine-preventable infections like measles, sexually transmitted infections (including HIV), blood-borne infections, Ebola, some serious bacterial infections, and novel virus infections (e.g. SARS-CoV, H1N1, and SARS-CoV-2). The goals of contact tracing are:
- To interrupt ongoing transmission and reduce the spread of an infection
- To alert contacts to the possibility of infection and offer preventive services or prophylactic care
- To offer diagnosis, counseling and treatment to already infected individuals
- If the infection is treatable, to help prevent reinfection of the originally infected patient
- To learn about the epidemiology of a disease in a particular population
Contact tracing has been a pillar of communicable disease control in public health for decades. The eradication of smallpox, for example, was achieved not by universal immunization, but by exhaustive contact tracing to find all infected persons (Scutchfield, 2003). This was followed by isolation of infected individuals and immunization of the surrounding community and contacts at-risk of contracting smallpox.
In cases of diseases of uncertain infectious potential, contact tracing is also sometimes performed to learn about disease characteristics, including infectiousness. Contact tracing is not always the most efficient method of addressing infectious disease. In areas of high disease prevalence, screening or focused testing may be more cost-effective.
Partner notification, also called partner care, is a subset of contact tracing aimed specifically at informing sexual partners of an infected person and addressing their health needs.
1.2 Statement of Problems
During epidemics, and pandemics, testing and tracing operations have an important role to play in determining how effectively the health system can identify individual disease incidents and clusters and respond. Mostly when covid 19 outbreak there is not means where individual can’t easily know the how to check symptom related to know if they are affected or not. The purpose of this review is to provide a summary of empirical evidence regarding digital contact tracing using app-based technology for disease control during pandemics and epidemics. This brief was conducted in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and the public health-led response in Nigeria.
1.3 Aim and Objectives of the Study
The main aim and objective of this student is to design and implement of coronavirus contact tracking information system, it also targets towards contributing to academic research work. The specific objective of this study is stated below:
1. It is also to ascertain whether the diseases could be diagnosed based on signs and symptoms and identify the technological and policy issues surrounding digital tracing of covid-19.
2. It will also examine a patient based on simple clinical signs, and to improve family and community health
3. To interrupt ongoing transmission and reduce the spread of an infection
4. To alert contacts to the possibility of infection and offer preventive services or prophylactic care
5. To offer diagnosis, counseling and treatment to already infected individuals
6. If the infection is treatable, to help prevent reinfection of the originally infected patient
7. To learn about the epidemiology of a disease in a particular population
1.4 Significance of the Study
If this prototype is fully developed will be very useful in many areas such as:
- It will help to retain the skill of an expert medical doctor in case of any eventuality;
- It can support academic development;
- It can be useful in many hospitals, both private and government, cases where the expert is not on seat;
- It can also be used in the laboratory for quick research work.
1.5 Scope of the Study
The scope of this study is centered on design and implementation of coronavirus contact tracking information system, a study of Nigeria Covid-9 spread.
1.6 Limitation of the Study
Usually, every work has some limitations and this study is not exempted.
The two major limitations of this study are the high programming technique as well as financial constraints. The high programming technique constraint in PHP, JQUERY and MYSQL prevents the researcher to have an in depth study and analysis on the subject matter. While the issue of financial constraint limits the frequency of investigation to/from the institution toward gathering the necessary information relevant for the study.
1.8 Definition of Terms
Contact tracing: is used by health departments to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Epidemic: is the rapid spread of disease to a large number of people in a given population within a short period of time.
Pandemics: is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a substantial number of people.
Coronavirus: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.
Diseases: is a particular abnormal condition that negatively affects the structure or function of all or part of an organism, and that is not due to any immediate external injury (White Tim, 2014).
HTML CODE: – HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a type of computer language that is primarily used for files that are posted on the internet and viewed by web browsers. HTML files can also be sent via email.
Markup language: – A markup language is a combination of words and symbols which give instructions on how a document should appear. For example, a tag may indicate that words are written in italics or bold type.
Web browser: -A Web browser is a software program that interprets the coding language of the World Wide Web in graphic form, displaying the translation rather than the coding. This allows anyone to “browse the Web” by simple point and click navigation, bypassing the need to know commands used in software languages.
File extension: – A file extension is the suffix at the end of a filename that tells a computer, and the computer user, which program is needed to open the file. Also called a filename extension, this suffix preceded by at least one period, is generally one to five characters long but the norm is usually three characters in length.
Email: – Email, also sometimes written as e-mail, is simply the shortened form of electronic mail, a protocol for receiving, sending, and storing electronic messages. Email has gained popularity with the spread of the Internet. In many cases, email has become the preferred method of communication.
TCP/IP: – This often used but little understood set of operations stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. TCP/IP is the combination of the two and describes the set of protocols that allows hosts to connect to the Internet. In actuality, TCP/IP is a combination of “more than those two protocols, but the TCP and IP parts of TCP/IP are the main ones and the only ones to become part of the acronym that describes the operations involved.
TEXT FILE: – A text file is a computer file that stores a typed document as a series of alphanumeric characters, usually without visual formatting information. The content may be a personal note or list, a journal or newspaper article, a book, or any other text that can be rendered accurately in typewritten form.
Hyper Link:-A hyperlink is a graphic or a piece of text in an Internet document that can connect readers to another webpage, or another portion of a document. Web users will usually find at least one hyperlink on every webpage. The simplest form of these is called embedded text or an embedded link.
WWW: – acronym for World Wide Web.
